Businesses will engage with the new Water Services Entities for everything related to three waters.
From 1 July 2024, businesses will engage with the new Water Services Entities for all matters relating to drinking water, wastewater and stormwater. For those who have several locations, this will likely simplify and streamline engagement, providing consistent commercial arrangements.
Like households, many businesses rely on safe, affordable and reliable drinking water. Under these reforms, we will be able to make the investment needed to improve our infrastructure and ensure less disruption from supplies being disconnected, burst pipes, or boil water notices.
Businesses already pay for water as part of their rates and in some areas like Auckland, these are metred and charged separately. Under the new structure, water charges will be issued by the new entities.
